4Talent's Mobile Game Pitch
Year two of the 4Talent Mobile Game Pitch is upon us and, once again, we're looking for ideas for innovative and imaginative mobile-based games.

Year two of the 4Talent Mobile Game Pitch is upon us and, once again, we're looking for ideas for innovative and imaginative mobile-based games.

This year, like last, we'll be inviting the 9 creative innovators with the most exciting ideas down to a pitching workshop in central London, where industry experts will help you develop and craft the ideas into slick pitches which, at the end of the day, you'll present to a panel of executives from Channel 4, EA Mobile and Nokia.

WIN!

One winner will then be selected by the panel to receive not only a £1,000 cash prize and an honorary presentation at the 26th Golden Joystick Awards, but also exclusive access to the R&D, technology and publishing teams at EA and Nokia for an invaluable insight into the processes of mobile game development and distribution.

But of course, everyone's a winner really: not just because of the intensive mentoring sessions you'll receive on the pitching day, but also because all 9 will receive a cutting-edge Nokia N96 handset pre-loaded with up to four great EA Mobile titles.

What are we looking for?

4Talent's Mobile Game Pitch is first and foremost about the idea - ideas for games and gameplay specifically for use on mobile phones, that take full advantage of the accelerating technology in this still relatively young field.

We're keeping the brief as loose as possible to ensure we tap the richest veins of creativity out there, but we do have some pointers that you should think about before making your submission:

  • Innovation: What haven't we seen before? New versions of existing games or concepts won't float our boat.
  • Interactivity: We like gameplay with interaction between other users/handsets via Bluetooth, WLAN or GPRS online, or that makes the most of uploading and sharing scores, characters or levels via social networking sites or other online portals.
  • Phone Functionality: With most phones having multi-multi functionality these days, push the boundaries and explore the use of GPRS, cameras, video, stylus, touch-screen and accelerometer, for instance.
  • Niche topics: We love mainstream appeal - and let's face it, you'd want to have your game played by millions wouldn't you? To increase appeal, think about how easily users could try your idea before they buy by downloading trial levels, for example.

As it's the ideas we're after, we don't want you to spend an age planning a working prototype or a fancy flow chart - that might come later! - but we do want you to give us a one-line descriptor of the idea and then a simple paragraph or few [max 250 words] with more details of the game concept.
